Description of Datasource:
A state’s 303(d) list identifies those waterbodies that do not meet applicable water quality standards (impaired waters) after implementation of technology-based effluent limitations. Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDLs), which establish the maximum amount of a pollutant that a water body can assimilate without causing exceedances of water quality standards, must be created for each waterbody present on the 305(d) list.
